ANCHORAGE, Alaska -- The University of Alaska Anchorage received a $7 million donation from an anonymous donor Friday afternoon.

UAA was one of at least 14 colleges and universities in the U.S. that have benefitted from multi-million-dollar donations in the last month.

All of the donations have gone to colleges run by women. With the latest donation to UAA, the total amount donated to U.S. colleges is $81.5 million.

There are two stipulations for the money given to UAA: $6 million must go to student scholarship programs, and the donor's name must be kept a secret.

The university says it will spend the rest of the money on its new Science Learning Center, slated to open next fall.
