ANCHORAGE, Alaska -- House Democrats say they will try to override Gov. Sarah Palin's budget veto of federal stimulus funds.
In a letter sent to Palin on Wednesday, Democrats cited several reasons why they believe Alaska should accept the $28.6 million stimulus money for improving energy efficiency.
Palin says she turned down the money because federal energy standards would have to be met in Alaska, but lawmakers say the state is already close to those marks.
Democrats claim all 49 other states have either already accepted the energy relief portion of the federal stimulus, or are on the verge of doing so.
An override requires a 75 percent majority in each house.
