ANCHORAGE, Alaska -- From audio equipment to interview techniques, it's all part of gearing up for Radio Free Palmer.
Through Tuesday, the Alaska Teen Media Institute will be working with future broadcasters as Palmer prepares to launch its own community radio station.
The target date for the low power radio station is Jan. 1, 2010.
Students and adults are learning the basics of broadcasting so they can share news and entertainment with their neighbors.
"Radio is a great way to delve into subjects that affect all of us, and when you get voices like the people who are here -- these are real community members who want to benefit everyone," said Cooper Galvin with the Alaska Teen Media Institute.
The board of directors is still trying to decide on call letters.
