ANCHORAGE, Alaska -- Despite a slow economy, Anchorage's Dena'ina Convention Center exceeded expectations in its first year.
The center racked up millions of dollars more in sales than what was anticipated.
Officials say while the Dena'ina is taking some business away from the Egan Convention Center, it's not enough to hurt a combined operating budget.
The two centers are operating at a $1 million annual loss, but that was figured in during the planning process, and is being made up by hotel room taxes.
