Associated Press - November 3, 2009 9:24 PM ET

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) - The 35-year-old pilot who survived the crash in which wolf biologist Gordon Haber was killed continues to recover at a Seattle hospital.

Dan McGregor has undergone skin graft surgery to his hands and one knee at Harborview Medical Center. He is in satisfactory condition.

In a statement issued Tuesday, McGregor says he had the utmost respect for Haber, and his thoughts and prayers go out to Haber's friends and family.

McGregor and family also expressed their gratitude to the people and agencies that helped following the accident Oct. 14 in Denali National Park.

McGregor said Haber was tracking a wolf pack when the plane encountered strong winds and crashed. McGregor survived and walked 20 miles for help.
