ANCHORAGE, Alaska -- Sixth-graders at Ocean View Elementary are going green.
Friday they learned all about climate change and even made environmental pledges of their own.
In exchange for a pledge, students were given green shoelaces to help remind them to be environmentally friendly.
About 60 students got to participate.
The presentation was a joint effort between Ocean View teachers and MWH, an environmental engineering firm.
Students we talked to all had different ideas on how they could do their part for the planet.
"I walk to school and my mom wanted to drive me but I said, 'I'll just walk.' And I want to help the environment," said student Kobe Blackwell.
Besides walking to school, students also said they would try to conserve water by taking shorter showers.
