ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) - Fans in Sarah Palin's home state are snapping up copies of her highly anticipated memoir.
McGrath resident Natalie Baumgartner says curiosity drove her to pick up a copy of the former Republican vice presidential candidate's book, "Going Rogue," at an Anchorage Costco.
David Cheezem, co-owner of Fireside Books in Palmer, says people have been calling to make sure they'll be able to get the book there. He opened early with coffee and doughnuts to celebrate today's release.
Pandemonium Booksellers in Palin's hometown of Wasilla is knocking off at least 20 percent. Storeowner Shannon Cullip says that among her sales are 25 books pre-ordered by just one customer.
The memoir is the first thing customers see when they walk in the door of the Borders store in Anchorage, where the price of the book is slashed by 30 percent for general customers and 40 percent for members of the Borders rewards program.
Kristy Havasi, the store's operations manager, won't discuss how many books are available or how fast they're selling, only that initially it seemed every other customer was walking out with a copy or two.
