Dimond High graduate dies in Baghdad

FORT RICHARDSON, Alaska -- An Alaska-based soldier and Dimond High School graduate has been killed in Iraq.

According to the U.S. Department of Defense, 31-year-old Sgt. 1st Class Christopher Brevard died Friday in Baghdad when a roadside bomb detonated near his patrol unit.    

Brevard graduated from Dimond High in 1994.   

He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 501st Infantry Regiment based out of Fort Richardson.
