ANCHORAGE, Alaska --There's no better feeling than giving to others, especially when you do it on a full stomach.
The Arc of Anchorage is holding its annual "artful plate" benefit. Arc artists are creating clay pottery for guests to eat off of and then leave with.
The dinner raises money for the Arc's art department. More than 70 students with disabilities learn functional art skills every year.
"Another thing I might be going to draw is maybe some, a landscape, like, some flowers," artist Debra Burt said.
Pottery instructor Leola Rutherford said the skills artists learn can also help them in the job market.
"Part of the class, I teach like I would my apprentices that I have in my studio in Girdwood, so that they have an employable skill," Rutherford said.
The benefit dinner is this Thursday at 5 p.m. at the Arc gym.
