ANCHORAGE, Alaska -- A pack of wolves killed half a dozen sled dogs and mauled at least 10 more in the Yukon River village of Marshall Thursday.
Residents reported seeing the wolves coming in and out of the village on Tuesday.
Thursday night the wolves came back into town and attacked three different sets of sled dogs, including a female and three pups.
Nick Andrew Jr. lives in Marshall, he said villagers shot three of the wolves, but only found one carcass.
"We're looking to make sure they're not harming people. That's our main concern," Andrew said. "We have a large population of small children."
Villagers have been advised to keep children inside after dark.
