Gravel done with politics, he says

ANCHORAGE, Alaska -- After two failed attempts to capture a presidential nomination, Mike Gravel says he is dropping out of politics.

The former U.S. senator for Alaska made his decision after the Libertarian Party denied him its nomination Sunday.

Gravel also ran in the Democratic primaries but left the party after claiming that Democrats no longer represent his values.

Gravel, who now lives in the Washington D.C. area, served two terms representing Alaska in the U.S. Senate from 1969-1981.
