ANCHORAGE, Alaska -- Anchorage's Fairview Lions Park is a bit tidier thanks to some help from across the country.

Anchorage is playing host to this year's national conference of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority.

More than 200 members banded together to clean up the park; digging up weeds and planting trees.

Members say they want to beautify every city the sorority has chapters in and they say this is just one way to help.

"Every community we go into other than the economic impact that we help do in that community by sheer numbers and the spending that goes on, we want to do something that impacts communities and the people where we are," Loann Honesty King of Alpha Kappa Alpha said.

Sorority members came as far as the Caribbean to take part in Tuesday's clean up.
