ANCHORAGE, Alaska -- Students at Begich Middle School are acting out the stories of their ancestors' struggles.
The writers and creators of the play "Refugee Nation" hosted a workshop at Begich for refugee students.
The workshop lasted three hours and students had a chance to act out escape stories of Laotian and Hmong refugees.
"You get to be all sort of characters and you get to act how the story goes," said Begich student Kong Meng Xiong.
"It teaches you about how more people came to United States," said student Ascholotte Vang. "I want to do it because my mom lived in Laos and they tell how my mom came to Alaska."
Live performances of "Refugee Nation" are Nov. 8-12 at the Out North Theatre.
