Online Journalist

We’re seeking a part-time online journalist to post content, including photos and videos, aggregate content of local interest, provide analysis, interact with readers and cover live events in and around Anchorage. Candidates must be highly motivated, have solid news judgment, writing, multimedia and SEO skills. The work schedule will be flexible.

Chief Responsibilities:

Posting stories, photos, videos and documents to our web site, aggregating content from internal resources as well as external resources. Producing and posting breaking news on deadline. 

Community Engagement: Interact with local news consumers and the blogging community. This includes, but is not limited to, commenting (on your own articles as well as news on other sites), Tweeting, chatting and Digging. 

Site Updates: Read, listen and consume stories from multiple news outlets, aggregating information while providing a fresh perspective and highlighting stories with the potential to generate intense local conversation.

Requirements:

Solid news judgment, excellent writing and SEO skills, HTML proficiency, strong understanding of multiple Web 2.0 platforms, and a keen sense of the evolving online journalism industry. Video editing and photography skills are a plus. Must be able to generate ideas and work independently.

Pay rate: Entry level
