Television News Director
KTUU-TV is seeking qualified applicants for the position of News Director for Channel 2 News.
Channel 2 News is Alaska’s news source, reaching 78 percent of the adults in SouthCentral that watch local news, two-thirds of whom are exclusive viewers of the 19.5 hours of news the station produces each week. In addition, the newscasts are carried via satellite, cable and broadcast to over 240 rural Alaska communities.
The wide television distribution and strong brand loyalty are augmented by online and mobile news delivery – all of which are the responsibility of the news director.
Strong leadership skills and high standards of personal and journalistic integrity are a must. People skills, drive and vision also are necessary.
The ability to operate on multiple delivery platforms is critical.
The right candidate will know how to keep relevant content in front of news consumers whenever and where ever they need it. Over half the station’s 98-person work force puts news product out each day, and the successful candidate will be able to plan and budget efficiently in a rapid paced and changing environment.
Candidates should have a Journalism degree and have news experience that includes a minimum of 7 years. Valid Alaska driver’s license and good driving record required.
