Iditarod ceremonial start planned for Anchorage, re-start in Willow

Iditarod chief executive Stan Hooley said the race's ceremonial start will once again be held in Anchorage, while the re-start is planned to return to Willow this year.

David joins the KTUU “Morning Edition” team with 30 years of Broadcast Meteorology experience. He has previously covered a broad variety of weather events with meteorology stints in Texas, Oklahoma, Washington, Minnesota and most recently, 15 years of cold weather coverage in Wisconsin.

Ariane Aramburo joined KTUU in June 2014 as the Executive Producer and co-anchor of "The Morning Edition."

Nikki Carvajal is the weekend anchor. She moved to Alaska in 1997, by way of one very full motorhome on the ALCAN Highway.

Raised in Ohio, Steve and his wife Jan came to Anchorage in February 1981. They were only supposed to be here for six months so Jan could finish a project for the oil company she was working with at the time, but one look at the Chugach Mountains changed all those plans and the couple decided to make Anchorage their permanent home.

Jackie grew up in Anchorage and graduated from Bartlett High School in 1979. She attended Gonzaga University in Spokane, Wash., graduating in 1983 with a degree in communications and a minor in political science.

Tracy Sinclare is the Weekend Meteorologist for Channel 2 News. Having moved to Alaska with her family in 1972 when her father was transferred to Elmendorf Air Force Base, Tracy has many years of experience with Alaska winters and the vagaries of its weather.

Kevin Wells' dreams of an athletic career were shattered at the age of 10 when he was taken deep by his fifth grade gym teacher in a student-teacher softball game. Shortly thereafter, he turned his attention to sportscasting and hasn't looked back.

Beth joined Channel 2 in January 2014. Born and raised in southern California, Beth had never visited Alaska before her move.  When Beth learned about Anchorage’s unique sports coverage, she didn’t need to know much more about Alaska before jumping at the opportunity to become a KTUU Sports Reporter.

Mallory Peebles joined the Channel Two News team in August 2012 and is thrilled to be "taking on the Last Frontier." Having never stepped foot in Alaska prior to her KTUU arrival, she's looking forward to every opportunity in which she can explore what she is already referring to as "our beautiful state."

Cameron Mackintosh was born in Johannesburg, South Africa and lived in both Uganda and Zambia before moving to the United States in 2011 to further his education at Wittenberg University in Springfield, Ohio.

Marcus Lewis

Marcus was born in Newcastle, Indiana in 1947 and decided to move to Spokane, Washington when he was four years old. He took his mother with him. He went through the Spokane School District, much to his teachers' dismay, but was socially promoted year after year and with much reluctance, was given a high school diploma from Shadle Park High School.

Jacqueline Policastro created the Gray Television Washington Bureau and has nearly a decade of experience covering Congress and the White House.
