Jackie Bartz joined Channel 2 in December 2009.
She comes to Alaska from her home state of Montana. Prior to working as a reporter for Channel 2, she spent nearly 3 years working as the crime/courts reporter at KECI-TV the NBC affiliate in Missoula, Montana. One of her most challenging assignments was covering the largest environmental criminal case in U.S. History, U.S. vs. W.R. Grace.
Jackie grew up in Helena, Montana. She graduated from the University of Montana in May 2008 with a degree in Broadcast Journalism. While in school she served as the News Director for the college radio station KBGA. She was also was honored with several regional Mark of Excellence awards from the Society of Professional Journalists for both radio and television stories.
Growing up in the Big Sky State made Jackie addicted to the outdoors. She's an avid hunter and is working on becoming an experienced fly fisher. One of her most memorable hunting trips took place in 2009 where she shot her first elk, a six-point bull. Jackie can't wait to get out hunting and fishing to see what the Last Frontier has in store for her.
When she's not chasing big game or big fish, Jackie spends time with her big dog, a 7-pound Pomeranian-poodle named Guinness.
