Pete Petersen is a former Democratic member of the state House who is among the candidates in a contentious three-way race to represent East Anchorage on the Assembly.

The 63-year-old was defeated by Republican Rep. Lance Pruitt after redistricting pitted them against one another, and now he is vying for a new seat against incumbent Adam Trombley and political newcomer Mao Tosi.

Petersen describes the need for better infrastructure and public transportation on the East Side as his top campaign issue.

He has significant backing from a range of unions and labor organizations.
