As I watched film and saw seven games in person over the past two weeks, certain players stood out. Notables include:
Denver sophomore midfielder Eric Adamson was set to attend Arizona State and play club lacrosse. In two years, the California native will be a Tewaaraton Award candidate.
Army sophomore midfielder John Glesener (above) is 6 feet 3 and 196 pounds. You could not pay me enough to step in front of his shot.
Navy long-pole midfielder Pat Kiernan from Ridgewood, N.J., is a stat-sheet filler, leading his team in caused turnovers and ground balls. It seems No. 26 is everywhere. Navy will be the underdog in its remaining games against Colgate, Lehigh, Maryland, Army and Johns Hopkins.
Attackman James Kennedy played a leading role in Holy Cross' first-ever win over Navy on Sunday. The Crusaders are making remarkable progress for coach Jim Morrissey.
Sophomore midfielder Ryan Izzo is the heart and soul of the UMass defense, which held Lehigh to four goals in a win on Wednesday night. Izzo, from Walpole, Mass., scored 101 touchdowns as a high school running back and can match feet with the nation's top midfielders.
