A major national retailer for fishing and outdoor goods is coming to Anchorage.
Bass Pro Shops released an announcement Tuesday that a new outpost store will be opening on Mountain View Drive, adjacent to Merrill Field Airport.
Bass Pro said it hopes the store will open by the 2013 fishing season, but CEO & President of the Anchorage Economic Development Corporation, Bill Popp, said it could be over a year and a half before that happens.
Popp said when the store does open, it will be good for the Glenn Square development and the community of Mountain View. "This is putting in a couple hundred really good jobs in the retail sector that are going to become available in the Glenn Square development...a major move forward for the development," he said.
Popp said the investment is worth tens of millions of dollars to the local economy.
