Bloomington business to close facility, fire 93 employees

A letter from the company indicated the layoffs would occur in phases, with the first one beginning on July 20.

A business located in Bloomington is closing its entire facility, eliminating 93 employees beginning in July.

Sunrise Publications, Inc., a greeting card company, announced Tuesday the company would move the Bloomington operation to the headquarters of its parent company, Hallmark Cards, Inc., in Kansas City, Mo.

A letter from the company indicated the layoffs would occur in phases, with the first one beginning on July 20.  Sunrise stated the affected employees can apply for open positions with Hallmark and subsidiary companies in the Kansas City area. 

Nine Sunrise employees will not lose their job. Nine USPS business evaluation coordinators will be offered a comparable position with Hallmark or one of its affiliate companies later this year, announced the company.
