( July 25, 2012 ) From a Civil War-era baseball to a mouth guard worn by Patrick Kane during the Blackhawks' triumphant Stanley Cup run, this in-restaurant museum offers a treasure trove of Chicago-related sports memorabilia. In classic Chicago tradition, it's connections that have helped build this priceless collection. Partners in the restaurant include Kane, Bobby Hull, Richard Dent and Ryne Sandberg. Each contributed priceless artifacts. Grant DePorter, president of Harry Caray's Restaurant Group, has amassed an impressive cache of sports treasures of his own. His most recent purchase at auction was the baseball that represented the last out in the 1945 World Series between the Cubs and the Detroit Tigers. The artifacts on display can have a profound impact on visitors devoted to their Chicago team of choice, DePorter observed. "There's an emotional attachment, for sure."
