( Alex Garcia, Chicago Tribune / February 14, 2008 ) Senior keeper Darlene Broniewicz tends to a Humboldt penguin chick in a incubator room at the Brookfield Zoo Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2008, iin Brookfield, Ill. The 14 day -old chick was taken from its parents because the chick was not gaining the proper amount of weight to survive. The chick is being kept in an incubator and fed a vitamin formula, but will be returned to the other penguins in three months. The plush animal is meant to simulate a parent for the chick. |
