Megan Sullivan, 8, of Evanston, writes a letter to her parents during down time at McGaw YMCA Camp Echo in Fremont, Michigan. The Evanston-based McGaw YMCAs Camp Echo's, Rob Grierson also grapples with boundaries. When in doubt, he ponders: Is this just the latest reincarnation of something that was approved in the past? That means digital cameras, iPods without video or Internet capability and other MP3 players get the nod. We want the kids to be able to listen to music at rest hour and bedtime, like they have for the last 40 years, Grierson said. We see the MP3 players as equivalent to the Walkman of the 1970s, the CD players of the 90s.
