Pinwheel, Comiskey Park Scoreboard

The last part of <a class="taxInlineTagLink" id="PLTRA0000163" title="U.S. Cellular Field" href="/topic/sports/baseball/u.s.-cellular-field-PLTRA0000163.topic">Comiskey Park</a> to be torn down in 1991 was the "exploding" scoreboard, which <a class="taxInlineTagLink" id="PESPT007563" title="Bill Veeck" href="/topic/sports/bill-veeck-PESPT007563.topic">Bill Veeck</a> had installed above the centerfield bleachers in 1960. The scoreboard features lights, sirens, a "soxogram" message board and the multi-colored pinwheels.<br> <br> The White Sox donated this famous feature to the Chicago History Museum, along with part of the old ballpark's foul pole fence.

The White Sox donated this famous feature to the Chicago History Museum, along with part of the old ballpark's foul pole fence.
