( Terrence Antonio James, Chicago Tribune / April 4, 2012 ) A group of historic residences constructed around the time of the 1893 World's Columbian Exposition in nearby Jackson Park exist in this block. Although the University of Chicago and local residents have signed off on a development plan for the area, Preservation Chicago said, buildings in the block that are not owned by the university remain vulnerable to demolition. It is urging the creation of a landmark district in the corridor, which includes Frank Lloyd Wright's already-landmarked Robie House. |
