The beautiful thing about Navy Pier's Winter WonderFest is that you don't have to freeze your patootie off to enjoy its wonderment. The indoor festival includes sleigh rides, ice skating, live entertainment (the Chicago FootworKINGz break-dancing team performs at the New Year's Eve Family Bash), concerts, carnival rides (who loves Tilt-A-Whirl?) and inflatable slides. For a detailed schedule of activities go to winterwonderfest.com.
Why go: See freezing of the patootie above.
Reconsider: Navy Pier is a tourist/everybody-goes-there magnet whether there's a fest going on or not.
Details: Through Jan. 8 at Navy Pier, 600 E. Grand Ave.; free admission, $14-$18 for activity wristband for ice skating and amusement rides; 312-595-5155
