How some antidepressants work

How some antidepressants work: My parents sent me to another hospital, and this time things were different. They put me on new medications, which worked a lot better. That's one hard thing about depression and other mental illnesses: There's no way to know which meds are best. You've got to keep trying until you find something that works.

How some antidepressants work:Chemicals in antidepressants block the reabsorption of serotonin.

The blocking triggers a stronger flow of serotonin. A stronger message is passed, and activity in that part of the brain is increased, potentially elevating mood.
