Alaskan Paralympian wins gold

Andrew Kurka, a paralympic skier from Palmer, Alaska (NBCOlympics)

ANCHORAGE (KTUU) - Alaskan Paralympic athlete Andrew Kurka took gold in his first event of the Paralympic Games Saturday in Pyeongchang, South Korea.

Kurka’s time of 1:24.11 bested the field of 26 in the men’s alpine downhill- sitting division.

Taiki Morii of Japan took silver, and Corey Peters of New Zealand took bronze.
