According to APD, Mickee Thompson, 19, and Robert Smith, 18, fled from the scene on foot, heading toward North Park Street.

The victim, a man who has not been identified, was shot multiple times inside the apartment, police said in a community alert.

Shortly after investigators met on scene, police updated the investigation, elevating it from a shooting to a homicide case.

Police say the victim perished from his wounds, though it is unclear where he was shot and how many times.

In addition to K9 search units, SWAT has also been deployed in the area to look for potential suspects in the area of Mountain View Drive from Park St. to Peterkin Ave.

Police are warning all in the area to stay inside and call 911 if you see anyone near your property. It is believed that the shooter left on foot, and may be trying to escape the police perimeter.

In the alert, APD stated that they are conducting a shooting investigation in the 4200 block of Mountain View Drive.

Police asked for the public to please avoid the area.
