ANCHORAGE (KTUU) - Update Dec. 7, 4:43 p.m.
Anchorage police say detectives have identified the man in the dark colored jacket, and the car, but they still want to know who the man in the light-colored jacket is.
12/7 9:00 a.m. Update:
Authorities are looking for two "people of interest" related to their continuing homicide investigation in the shooting death of Joshua Statham.
In a community alert issued Thursday, MJ Thim, spokesperson with APD, said that the two men "were seen inside the Holiday at the intersection of 68th Avenue and Lake Otis Parkway before the shooting."
"Also during this time, an older model white Cadillac sedan was parked at the Holiday," Thim said, identifying a vehicle that may have some involvement in the case.
Thim said the man dressed in dark clothes was the one driving the car, and that the man in the light colored jacket was not in the car and instead left the gas station on foot.
"Detectives believe these men have information to solve this crime," Thim wrote.
Update - 12 p.m.:
Following a shooting that took place in the middle of an Anchorage intersection on Sunday evening, APD confirms that the adult male victim – found with bullet wounds and transported to a local hospital – has died.
Joshua Statham, 26, was shot, after police say he was involved in an altercation near the intersection of E 68th Avenue and Lake Otis Parkway. Ken McCoy, Deputy Chief with APD, says that Statham and the suspect were driving in separate vehicles, and recognized each other from another "altercation" involving them both, earlier the same night.
As a result, police say shots were fired and Statham was injured. The passenger in Statham's vehicle got out of the car, switched seats and drive the victim to the hospital, according to McCoy.
No description is available for the suspect or the car they were driving.
Statham later died at the hospital, from his life-threatening gun shot wounds.
Because the suspect and victim knew each other, APD says this event was not random. Instead, they are calling this an isolated case. Police are now calling it a homicide investigation.
