ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) - Anchorage Police say a man was shot multiple times Saturday afternoon in an area near the intersection of Starview Drive and Boundary avenue.
Police said a group of men and women met in that location, “At some point there was an altercation, shots were fired and an adult male was shot. The victim and an adult female got into a vehicle and the rest of the males got into another vehicle. Both vehicles left the scene.”
According to APD, the victim then waited about half an hour to call 911 from inside a Fred Meyer store. Initially, the victim told police he had been shot once. Investigators wrote additional gun shot wounds were later discovered when the victim was getting treated at an area hospital. None of the injuries are considered serious, police said.
Police have not made any arrests in the case. According to MJ Thim, spokesperson for the Anchorage Police Department, the shooting does not appear to be a random crime and there is no threat to public safety.
Thim said APD is asking for any witnesses or those with surveillance footage of what may have happened to contact officers. Tips can be made to the non-emergency line at 311 or anonymously with Crime Stoppers at 561-STOP.
