Alaska Aces fans reminisce as end of season nears

With only a few weeks left in the regular season for the Alaska Aces, KTUU caught up with fans at the game Saturday night.

Some say the reality of the end for the team is starting to sink in.

"I'm sad because there's so many people that we get to meet up with and it's just a community thing that we come out and do all the time," Bree Thompson said.

Fans may have noticed a for sale sign hanging on the outside of the Aces office on 15th Avenue in midtown Anchorage this weekend.

Last month team owners announced the plan to cease operations at the end of this regular season and playoffs.

"I started coming to watch the Aces over 20 years ago when I was in middle school and fell in love with watching hockey and I've loved them ever since," Lem Wheeles said.

If the team doesn't make the playoffs, the final regular season game is scheduled at home on April 8.
