ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) The bears at the Alaska zoo are almost entirely out of hibernation.
The executive director of the zoo, Patrick Lampi says the three brown bears have been up for a few months, which sometimes happens if there's a warm snap during winter.
As for the two black bears, Lampi said staff have seen signs of the female awake, including tracks in the snow but sightings have been rare.
Lampi said the male black bear, Zack made his own den this year for the first time.
"We're expecting to see him anytime now," he said.
