An unspeakable event hopes to draw attention to local businesses

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) A silent cause with a big message.

While some of us are keen to avoid road crews and traffic cones, Saturday’s event is encouraging people to come back to local businesses corned in by summer construction.

In a theatrically creative twist, the Mime Spenard event hopes to create a positive interaction with the city’s road construction projects.

Why Mimes?

“Why not mimes?” said Enzina Marrari, co-project creator, “We wanted something that could be iconic, highly visible, and would create intrigue and wonder.”

Marrari says she got into miming when the project started in June.
“You know, there have been a lot of folks reaching out to us since the project started.” Marrari said while painting the finishing touches on the face of a local junior mime. “We are really hoping this does start a conversation. I think there’s more miming in my future.”
