ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) - Update - 1:20 p.m.:

Anchorage Police have identified Monday morning's homicide victim as 39-year-old Timothy Smith. Officers say Smith was found lying in the street on 4th Avenue.

In addition, authorities say they are looking for a vehicle that was seen in the area, a silver Chevy Trail Blazer. APD wants to talk to the people who were in it.

In addition to those related to the vehicle, police are looking for any witnesses who saw the shooting. As has been the trend with APD, they are specifically asking the public for any security camera video of the area on New Years Eve night.

Original Story:

In the first few moments after midnight in 2018, police in Anchorage received a call that a man had been shot.

At the scene, they found a man with multiple gun shot wounds to the torso.

After being taken to a local hospital, the man, who has not yet been identified, was pronounced dead by hospital staff.

Nora Morse, a spokesperson for APD, writes that the reported area of the shooting is 4th Ave. and D Street.

In an email, Morse told KTUU that no other people are thought to have been injured in the shooting.

The investigation is ongoing, and Morse said APD will have more information regarding the shooting some time Monday.

This is a developing story and will be updated.
