UPDATE: Roads reopened following early morning head-on collision

ANCHORAGE (KTUU) - 9:20 a.m. Update:

According to MJ Thim, spokesperson for APD, Minnesota Drive lanes have all been re-opened following an accident early Friday morning.

Thim said that an SUV and a truck were involved in a head-on collision after one of the vehicles, which was originally in the northbound lane, drove over the median and struck the other head-on.

Information on any injuries was not immediately available.

According to police, in addition to the Minnesota crash, Friday morning saw one injury accident, two non-injury accidents, and six calls for "vehicle in distress."

In a community alert issued early Friday, police warn drivers to avoid a busy West Anchorage road due to a wreck.

At 8:10 a.m., police say both southbound lanes on Minnesota Drive were shut down near the intersection with Tudor "due to a vehicle accident."

Road conditions were slick in the morning after snowfall Thursday froze over.

On Thursday night, police issued a warning regarding poor driving conditions on the Glenn Highway out of town as well.
