CHUGIAK, Alaska (KTUU) - Hundreds of woman hit the course for a cause Sunday morning.
Now in its 19th year, the Bike for Women is a fundraiser for both the Arctic Bicycle Club and the non-profit Let Every Woman Know, an organization raising awareness for gynecological cancer.
Organizers say the race is also a chance to meet up with old riding partners or make new ones. "It's really fun when you're out here and see everybody connecting. For a lot of folks it's their first time back out on the bike on the road racing so everyone gets to kick off the summer and make those connections again," Kristin Folmar, co-race director said.
This year the race sold out in record time with more than 700 hundred cyclists competing.
