WASILLA, AK (KTUU) - This was it. For all the glory. Leave everything on the ice, because there's nothing left after this. This is state.
Dimond and West met in a battle to see who would reign supreme and it was a nailbiter til the end.
Lynx struck first, off a goal by sophomore Max Hickel, to give them a 1-0 lead.
But the Eagles would not go quietly. Nick Opinsky had the equalizer and everyone was back on the edge of their seats.
However, Dimond would not be contained, and the Lynx would score again quickly to take a 2-1, then 3-1, and then 4-1 lead.
West would score again but it was too late, as the Lynx claim the 2018 ASAA state hockey championship.
Dimond sophomore Max Hickel couldn't describe what this feeling felt like.
"There are no words," he said with a chuckle.
