SEATTLE (KTUU / AP) - 1 p.m. Update:

The day after a man reportedly stripped naked and ran down the aisles of a packed flight from Seattle to Anchorage, passengers aboard the flight reached out to KTUU to explain the bizarre series of events.

"The flight attendants cleared the entire aisles, it was just a perfect opportunity for this guy I guess," a passenger said, requesting that they not be named in the article.

"He came from the back of the plane, I assume out of the bathroom and stripped completely naked," he said, "And I just hear this really loud like 'wooo' and he runs all the way up to first class."

"At this point I'm like, 'oh crap, this is not good,'" the passenger told KTUU. Initially, many aboard feared something dangerous was happening, like a possible hijacking, but one passenger said "after about 3 seconds" they realized it was something else completely.

Passengers speculated it was either a college prank or someone suffering from a "mental disturbance." So far authorities did not confirm what exactly prompted the bizarre scene.

They describe a chaotic scene in which the majority of the plane was sent into an uproar, distressed and not entirely sure what would come next.

Eventually two people tackled the man, and he remained "pretty quiet" after that while the plane landed, the passengers said. The flight attendant then thanked everyone, as usual, for flying with Alaska Airlines, noting "sorry any flight disruptions."

Original Story:

A retired Alaska state lawmaker says a naked passenger was tackled and detained on an Alaska Airlines flight from Seattle to Anchorage, Alaska.

Former state Sen. Johnny Ellis said on Twitter that the incident happened Monday after the man ran from the front of the plane to the back, yelling and waving.

Alaska Airlines spokeswoman Bobbie Egan said in a statement Monday night that Alaska Airlines flight 107 from Seattle landed without incident in Anchorage.

Egan says shortly before the descent into Anchorage a disruptive male passenger was detained. She says he was removed by law enforcement after the plane parked at the gate and was then transported to a local hospital.

She didn't say whether the man was clothed or what led to the incident.
