ANCHORAGE (KTUU) (Update 10:30 p.m.) Power has been restored to the Fairbanks area after what utility officials described as a "widespread outage".

In a Facebook post, Golden Valley Electric said "Power has been restored to all of Fairbanks except the areas of Dale Rd and Airport Industrial. Crews are patrolling and looking for the problem."

Golden Valley added that Delta Junction was still without power. The association said crews were patrolling the powerline between Johnson Rd and Delta. The Golden Valley Electric Facebook page said "we can not start up our generator in Delta as it is down for maintenance. Thanks for your patience."

As for the causes of the outage, Golden Valley said "there has been a fault on the southern end of the Intertie. We are bringing up generation and we will be restoring power to neighborhoods as we bring substations back online."
