Alaska State Troopers in Fairbanks say a 43 year old man jumped out of his vehicle in an attempt to elude police.

On Sunday at around 2:09 AM troopers say they tried to stop a vehicle that a ran red light.

The vehicle failed to stop and continued to travel until it turned into the Chena River Recreation site.

That’s when troopers say the man jumped out and ran on foot leaving the moving vehicle to sink to the bottom of the Chena River.

The Fairbanks resident, Clayton Nelson, was caught and arrested.
Troopers say Nelson was remanded for Failure to stop at the direction of a Peace Officer and Reckless Driving.
