NBC News This year's hottest tech toys might look like classics, but they're packing new technology under the hood.

Hot Wheels is rolling out the next generation of toy racing, supercharged with artificial intelligence that allows the cars to stay on the track at ultra high speeds.

Meanwhile, Barbie is getting an upgrade. Her new "Hello Dreamhouse" is a smart home. It can be controlled by an app on your phone, and features a toilet that actually flushes.

If your kids are feeling crafty, the Flybrixx set allows them to build a working drone out of classic Legos.

And remember the Furby and Tamagotchi pet toy crazes of the 90s? "Hatchimals" are a hybrid of sorts, and on the wish lists of many this year. The surprise pet hatches right in your hands...if you can actually get your hands on one.
