ANCHORAGE (KTUU) - What began as a small event for locals has turned into a big event with an even bigger cause.
"We figured we'd change it up a bit and allow people to donate to what's going on down (in Texas)," said Tim Farley, Executive Chef at Humpy's Great Alaskan Alehouse in Anchorage. "Kind of help every one else out, and in the meantime, we're gonna have a little party and barbecue."
Farley and his crew have spent weeks preparing for the Humpy's to Houston event, happening Thursday, Sept. 7 and benefiting Hurricane Harvey victims.
Proceeds from special menu items, such as baby back rib, cookout-style sides, barbecue-style foods and even certain beverages, will be donated to various agencies helping out with recovery efforts.
"It's going to be amazing," Farley said, "just knowing that all the way across the U.S., there's a group of people, that care and that are going to help out."
But food isn't the only thing on the table for Thursday evening. Along with music there will also be a silent auction and more.
Humpy's doors are still open with food available throughout the day, but the main events begin at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 7.
Cash donations will also be accepted throughout the night.
