Hundreds of jobs coming to Anchorage with Dave & Buster's arcade restaurant

ANCHORAGE (KTUU) - In a series of months seeing a steady rise in Alaska unemployment, job seekers in Anchorage may be getting good news.

In a news release issued Tuesday, restaurant and entertainment hybrid corporation Dave & Buster's Entertainment, Inc. announced exactly how many jobs it would be bringing to the city in the months leading up to its inaugural Alaska location.

According to the company, the Dave & Buster's location in Anchorage will be opening in March, and bringing with it "more than 230" jobs in varying disciplines and ranges of experience.

"Positions are available in both front and back-of-house capacities, including servers, bartenders, hosts, line cooks, game techs and more," the company wrote.

The new location will be the first in the state, and will be opening up on the second floor of the Dimond Center mall, near the movie theater. The estimated size released by the company will be over 43,000 square feet.

The hiring may help to fill a void left by a store closing just across the street from the mall, at Sam's Club. As KTUU reported earlier this month, more than 500 employees were let go with the closure of Sam's.

Unemployment in the state has not been this high since March, 2012.
