Hundreds of wildfires burn thousands of acres across the state


ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) The Division of Forestry said 211 wildfires have burned across the state as of Saturday afternoon.

According to the latest interagency situation report, the fires have burned more than 148,00 acres across the state.

A total of 65 fires are considered active, with four of those staffed.

The agency said 57 wildfires started with lightning, while nearly three times as many, 154 are believed to be human caused.
