Computer outages cause delays for nearly 100 Alaska Airlines flights

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) - Alaska Airlines saw delays for nearly 100 flights due to "intermittent computer outages." Delays up to three hours were reported Saturday in some airports across the West Coast.

Bobbie Egan, a spokesperson for Alaska Airlines, says I.T. technicians resolved the problem around 3:30 p.m. and isolated the issue to a router in Portland. The Seattle-based airline is now working to get customers on their way.

Egan specified the carrier experienced intermittent outages with the computer system that is responsible for creating flight paperwork and customer reservations. The outages were impacting airports in Seattle, San Francisco and Anchorage.

No flights were cancelled, but it was advised that passengers check the status of their flights before going to the airport. Egan says the issue began around 1 p.m. Saturday, leading to I.T. technicians being tasked with solving the problem.
