From bad luck, to first place and fortune, Tyson Johnson and Tyler Aklestad have seen it all.
But when the defending Iron Dog champions were disqualified from last year's race, their future was uncertain.
Johnson tells KTUU, "leading up to the race we weren't even sure we would do it. It was pretty much down to the last couple of days before sign up, before the race talking to each other we kind of decided, OK, we are gonna do it."
While there was two sides to the story, Tyson and Tyler are ready to write a new one altogether this year.
"I didn't want to go out that way, and I don't think Tyson did either. We've done this, coming on 14 years now, and I wasn't going to go out like that. That's not how I want to leave my mark on it," says Aklestad.
"Our race strategy hasn't changed at all, obviously it worked the past two years in our opinion," said Tyler. "But as far as the race goes the preparation, getting everything lined out, we are keeping it the same, hopefully if works again."
