Jury selection begins Monday in the death of David Grunwald

ANCHORAGE (KTUU) - Jury selection in the murder trial of Erick Almindinger, charged in the shooting death of David Grunwald, begins Monday. Edie Grunwald, David's mother, says dozens of people have been told to report to Palmer Superior Court for the trial of Almandinger, who's now 18.

Almandinger, Bradley Renfro, Dominic Johnson and Austin Barrett are all currently awaiting trial on charges related to David Grunwald's murder.

Edie Grunwald says the trial starts the same week as high school graduations in the Mat-Su Valley.

"David would have been graduating from high school next week, so the timing of everything is a little hard to fight now," Grunwald said. "Both of us (Edie and her husband Ben) plan on going to both graduations of Colony and the Mat-Su Career Tech."

David Grunwald attended both schools at one point.

Grunwald says the trial is expected to start May 14th.
