ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) - From gift giving to lighting up the holidays, one Anchorage couple has taken a staple in Christmas decorating and given it one peck of a twist.
"Anybody is more than welcome to come and look at them. We encourage people to come look at them to see what they're all about," Jim and Jen Peterson said, of their Chicken Coop Christmas Village display.
This is the first year the duo has used Christmas lights to decorate the coops; although, Jim has been building them for several years.
It seems fitting the coops are decorated. The Petersons say many of the styles they build through Arctic Chicken Coops come with electrical outlets.
So when it's not Christmas time, the coops can actually house heaters, or other gadgets, designed to keep water for the chickens from freezing.
Arctic Chicken Coops is located at 1334 Karluk Street in Anchorage.
